Day 04| Least favorite song from each solo album

(Just a side note… this was like, ridiculously difficult. Nearly impossible.)

Off The Wall | Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough

There seriously isn’t a song on Off The Wall that I don’t love. The only reason I put Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough is because I tend to skip over this and Rock With You because I’ve heard them so many times. Still love them, though.

Thriller | Thriller

Don’t get me wrong… Thriller is a GREAT song. It’s just another one of those I tend to skip over because I’ve heard it hundreds of thousands of times.

Bad | Speed Demon

Speed Demon probably has the least amount of plays out of all the Michael Jackson songs in my iTunes. I don’t know why I never really got into it. It’s a good song… I just don’t listen to it all that much.

Dangerous | Heal The World

Heal The World is a beautiful and touching song. Believe me, I adore it. I just can’t listen to it, all the time. I like seeing Michael perform it, because it’s always a powerful performance, and it’s good in tributes and yada yada… but, it’s just too emotional to listen to on a daily basis.

(Not gonna include Blood On The Dance Floor. I’ll just say I’m not a fan of all the dance club remixes.)

History Pt. II | D.S.

D.S. is a cool song. It’s got a good beat to it… It’s just outrageously repetitive (which, you know, he could have done intentionally considering the message) but, it starts to get on my nerves after a while, so I have to turn it.

Invincible | Cry

There’s just something so cheesy about this song, to me. It’s just like a “Heal The World Pt. II.” I don’t know. And the little “Change The World” whisper at the end just kind of takes away from the “Make That Change” that he says at the end of Man In The Mirror. It’s just kinda like… I don’t know. It’s another one of those sweet and emotional songs that I can’t listen to regularly.

Day 03| Favorite song from each solo album

I could be meticulous and start off with the solo albums from when he was a kid, but I’m just gonna start with Off The Wall because I’m lazy:

Off The Wall | Get On The Floor

It was tough choosing between this and Girlfriend, (and Off The Wall, and I Can’t Help It). It was damn near impossible, really. I’m not even sure if I consider this my real answer. I love Off The Wall so much. Get On The Floor ALWAYS makes me dance. I could be missing my legs and I would find a way to jump around if this song came on.

Thriller | The Lady In My Life

Does this need an explanation? I don’t think so. Although, I decided not to include Someone In The Dark and Carousel, since they weren’t really a part of the original album release. Otherwise, I might have had a hard time choosing.

Bad | Leave Me Alone

I don’t care if this wasn’t “technically” part of the album, I love this song more than life itself, sometimes.

Dangerous | Fucking Impossible

I think I’m obsessed with just about every song on Dangerous. I would think I had it narrowed down, and then I would see one and be like “FFFFFFUUUUUU I LOVE THAT ONE, TOO.” Jam is just wonderful. Why You Wanna Trip On Me takes me back to being 3 years old. In The Closet needs no explanation. Remember The Time is fucking BRILLIANT. Give In To Me is just so sexy and rock’n rollish. Will You Be There brings me to tears. I sing Keep The Faith like I’m in a gospel choir. And I have a more recent appreciation for Dangerous. It’s kind of chilling. I guess it’s a compliment to Michael that the album that he had complete creative control over is the one I can’t get enough of. I chose Who Is It because I just love the video.

Blood On The Dance Floor | Superfly Sister

Another one of those songs that I sometimes love more than life. It’s fun and dancy and soulful and ugh, I just love it.

History Pt. II | Little Susie

I’m not exactly sure why, but I have some kind of odd obsession/fascination with this song. It’s so haunting and sad, but I love it.

Invincible | Whatever Happens

I am IN LOVE with this song. I don’t know if it’s because of it’s Spanish sound or because of Santana’s awesome guitar or the repetitive “Sha-na-na-na”s (My name is Shonna. Sue me for being giddy like a 12 year old while I hear him sing my name), but I’m just in love with it. Heartbreaker is a close second. And Threatened. Shit, and Break of Dawn.

Day 02| First album you ever owned

We always had a lot of Jackson albums around when I was growing up (my mom loved both Michael and Janet), and I still have 2 of the Thriller cassettes I used to tote around with me when I would go with my mom to work. She was the manager of an apartment complex, so I would sit in the lobby and play Thriller on the stereo. And turn it up. And get in trouble. And turn it up, again. I was all 3, mind you.

But, the first album I ever got that was totally and completely 100% mine, was Dangerous on cassette:

I got it for Christmas when I was 3 years old, along with one of these:

We have home movies of me singing “Why You Wanna Trip On Me” to the puppy I got the same year. I carried that little cassette player with me, everywhere, singing MJ songs to whoever would listen. At least, until I would ask my parents for more batteries and they would swear up and down we didn’t have any left.

My Dangerous cassette tape somehow got lost through the years; probably thrown away during one of our moves. It could still be in a box in my parents garage, but who knows.

So, there ya go.

Day 01| First song you can ever remember hearing of Michael’s:

It’s hard to think back on the first song I ever heard of Michael’s, being that I was pretty much born into loving him because of my mom. I’m almost positive the first song of Michael’s I ever heard was most likely something off Thriller, although we have videos of me belting out “Ben” like a pro at age 2. Even still, the song I most readily identify with my childhood is “Why You Wanna Trip On Me?” This is probably due to the fact that I received the Dangerous album on cassette when I was just 2 or 3, and never. stopped. playing it. Also, because it’s the only song of his that brings that nostalgic feeling of being very young whenever I hear it.

So, to be honest, I’m not sure. But, there’s my answer.

Day 18 – A photo that makes you angry

I can’t decide if this makes me angry or if it just breaks my heart.
In either case, it makes me want to scream “LEAVE HIM ALONE!” at the top of my lungs.

Day 17 – Your favorite moment of Private Home Movies

I adore all of it, but Part 5 is just….. painfully sweet. I’m beaming through the entire thing.

Day 16 – Your favorite physical feature of Michael’s

This isn’t even fair… but I’m gonna try, in no particular order:

His giant and beautiful hands.

That smiiiiiiile.

ARMS!

His neckkkkkk. (and chin)

Legs for miiiiles.

Soulful eyes. (lol had to)

His thin but sculpted chest

HIS BACK!

Ummmm, his entire body, okay?

Day 15 – An MJ-related website

http://jetzi-mjvideo.com/

I loooove sifting through this site and finding various little treasures.
The “books” section is probably my favorite; they have scans of magazines and books that are near impossible to get ahold of.

Cheers to whoever put this site together because it’s wonderful! <3

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
30 plays

Day 14 – A song that forces you to dance

Day 13 – A song that’s made you cry

“You’ll remember me, somehow, though you don’t need me now. I will stay in your heart, and when things fall apart… you’ll remember, one day….”
